Colombo, April 29 (Daily Mirror) - Thirty passengers were injured this morning when two buses collided near the Hettiarachchi Junction on the Beliatta–Dikwella Road.

The injured were admitted to the Tangalle Hospital for treatment.

Police said the accident occurred when a private bus travelling from Dikwella to Beliatta collided with a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus coming from the opposite direction.

Treble the fines for bad driving and six months ban on driving immidiately. That should stop this nonsence. !! Also Rs. 100,000/- fine for drink driving and driving under the influence of drugs and one year ban from driving.

Road accidents involving Public Transport can only be controlled when such accidents are categorized as a criminal offence. A Driver, whether 3-wheeler, taxi or bus need to realize he is in charge of the lives he is transporting similar to a Pilot of an Air craft or Captain of a passenger liner. Most of these fellows are yakko's without even basic levels of education, discipline and honesty. Minimum up to O'Levels need to be passed for Driving License. Separate Driving License for Drivers of Public Vehicles. For Drivers of Public Vehicles such as buses, minimum 5y experience on similar vehicles and need to pass the patience/psychology/discipline test and score not less than 90 marks. Drivers who finally pass out and found involved in accidents, the Driver Tester who passed them out need to be noted and if their are many drivers from this Driver Tester faulting, need to nab him.

No Plan Pacha party has not done any legislative changes to curb traffic violations because 99% of those who violate are NPP active supporters The frequency of bus accidents has increased after NPP took over. They did a media show to remove excess gadgets but majority of busses are running with those gadgets still on and with their deafening horns on all the time.

Based on the video posted it appears that the private bus was on the wrong side of the road. The private bus has tried to overtake another vehicle at a bend on a narrow road. So obviously the accident. You will see these guys doing this dangerous overtaking everyday . But nothing is fone to prevent such behaviour. No Plan Pacha party has no strategy to prevent these mishaps. They are busy in entertaining the gallery with their funny stories full of lies.

what's up with clean Srilanka ! big wave , private bus /3wheel owners association crushed it single handedly within a day , it's a shame when boast so much and do very little ! LOL . it's not something you can just wait and see , it's a life and death situation of ordinary people travelling on the road daily . just do the job rather hosting talk shows . now PLS don't say why previous goverment failed to do so . that's the reason you all are outthere !!! so don't talk about King viyaya's fault . do what's needed badly !!!
