22 SL Government sites hacked

A number of 22 subdomains of the North Central Provincial Council (nc.gov.lk) owned by the Sri Lanka government have been defaced by Bangladeshi Grey Hat Hackers (BGHH).

The affected subdomains represent the sites of the Public Service Commission, the Department of Sports, the Department of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health and many others.

“Some so-called hacker from Sri-Lanka challenged us that their country’s gov sites are too secured and unbreachable. We defaced the 22 gov sites to show them and to prove them ‘No system is secured from us.’ We also urge the government of Sri-Lanka to increase the security of their sites,” the hackers said in a statement.

BGHH also defaced the site of Joomla India (joomla.in), a company that provides web design and web development services. It’s worth noting that the firm, Joomla India, is not affiliated in any way with Open Source Matters or the Joomla! Project.

At the time of writing, all the affected websites had been restored. (Source: Softpedia)

Don't try to look at these sites as they may send virus to your PC which is called as "iframe virus".

Unbreachable? Who ever claimed that is a really ignorant clown. "illan kanawa kiyanne oka thamai". Off-course for the Govt there is a silver-lining. Now at least they know these vulnerabilities exists.

It shows the quality and importance of our government websites. Quality is utterly poor with loads of facebook photos of the minister. Importance is zero as it doesn't convey anything useful.Hats off to the hackers.
