Colombo, March 8 (Daily Mirror) - Twenty-two sailors from the Iranian naval ship IRIS Dena who were rescued following the attack near Sri Lankan waters have been transferred to the Koggala Air Force Base after receiving treatment at hospital.
The sailors were among those admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital after being rescued by the Sri Lanka Navy.
On March 4, a total of 35 Iranian sailors from the stricken vessel were brought ashore by Sri Lanka Navy rescue teams after the ship encountered distress about 40 nautical miles off the coast of Galle Harbour.
Following their rescue, the sailors were admitted to Karapitiya Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities said that ten sailors are still receiving treatment at the hospital, while eight of them remain in the emergency care unit.
Meanwhile, post-mortem examinations on the bodies of 84 Iranian sailors who died in the attack on the IRIS Dena were recently conducted at the Galle National Hospital.
