17th suspect remanded over Ganemulla Sanjeewa’s murder

Colombo, June 16 (Daily Mirror) - Sugath Abeysinghe, the 17th suspect in the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa, was ordered to be remanded till June 20 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali.
The suspect was arrested today by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) and produced before court.
He is accused of transferring Rs. 50,000 to a bank account belonging to Ishara Sewwandi, the prime suspect in the murder.
CCD officers told court that the suspect had transferred the money to Sewwandi’s bank account via an online transaction around the time the murder had taken place.
