12 garment factory workers injured in bus accident

Colombo, Sept. 29 (Daily Mirror) - At least 12 passengers were injuried when a private bus belonging to a garment factory met with an accident on the Randenigala road, police said.

The accident occurred due to a sudden mechanical failure of the bus.

The vehicle had veered off the road and collided against a rock bund on the roadside.

The injured were admitted to the Kandaketiya Hospital for treatment.

Sudden or expected? So has the inspections started? It was all over the news after the accident, but now no news or updates from the Govt.

SLTB and the government need to specify a manufacturer standard to imported buses and the one's made hear under brand names. Speed control, passenger handles, seat quality, driver comfort and safety, skid control, disabled access, Engine pollution control, Fuel type ( Natural gas, Electric or diesel) ETC . . . are some. All countries have these for public vehicle. And the Driver standards.

Bus accidents, Bus accidents, Bus accidents, almost daily. The police and relevant ministries MUST take action. No point just braging about what they are going to do. Police must check busses driving at high speeds and also to check any bus that looks suspicious in their driving manner.
