Colombo, June 10 (Daily Mirror) - Claiming that some Opposition MPs are attempting to mislead the people claiming that there is no fund called "Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund", Leader of the House and Minister Bimal Ratnayake said today that the "Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund" is just a name given to the account of the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury (DST) and that funds received to the account is credited to the government's consolidated fund.

The Minister told Parliament that steps are being taken to enact the Act in Parlaiment to estabilish the "Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund" and that the draft of the Act has been refered to the Legal Draftsman for approval.

He said some Opposition MPs are attempting to mislead the people and create confusion regarding the fund to prevent people from donating to the fund.

The Minister said monies received to the fund is credited to the Treasury's DST account and that money in the fund cannot be utilised without the approval of Parliament.

He said not even the Rs. 500 billion allocated to the post-Ditwah rebuilding process has been used entirely as yet.
