Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Vinothan John has been included in a three-member National Cricket Selection Committee headed by Ashantha de Mel. The other member in the committee is former first class cricketer Chaminda Mendis who served as a co-selector under De Mel's chairmanship since November 2018. 

They have been appointed for a period of one year from August 5, 2019. Former Sri Lanka wicket-keeper bat Brendon Kuruppu and Hemantha Wickremaratne served in the four member selection committee appointed in November last year.
