It's incredibly difficult for people in Europe obtain a PCR test within 72 prior to departure. This might be a factor might deter many potential summer bookings. Otherwise well thought plan.

We should still close borders to countries with high Corvid cases. PCR tests are not 100% accurate. Public health should never be compromised.

What if you have family or friends there and want to stay at their property rather than a certified hotel? You can’t come?

a family of 4 has to add 400 USD for the visa's for their 2 weeks stay. Already yesterday it was discussed in social media and many tourists have said to forget about Sri Lanka because of this.

As a foreigner and someone who works within tourism I can tell you that this plan wont work, no one will come. And these certified hotels are 4 and 5 star hotels... most dont want to stay in these. People with money can go to Maldives instead where the rules are not this crazy.

No western Tourist will come, until there is a C19 Vaccine available.Nobody will take the risk of long hail flights and gets eventually stuck in Sri Lanka,if a second wave appears. The Idea with 100$ for a 2week Tourist visa and promoted 4-5 Star Hotels will also flop.Dream on Sri Lanka, nobody will come!

    Seb Monday, 22 June 2020 08:24 AM

I don't think many tourists will come. Most people like to plan their holiday in advance and the SL embassies around the world as well as the SL immigration office still say "Foreign nationals are not welcome until further notice and and all visas have been suspended". August 1st is in a little more than a month from now. People have already planned and paid for other destinations I'm afraid. And like others have said.. What about those who come to visit friends or loved ones and wish to stay with them instead of a certified hotel. I myself would never stay in a 4-5 star hotel. That's not how I like to spend my money.
