St. Thomas College Matale registered a first innings win over Debarawewa National School in a rain interrupted under 19 cricket encounter played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Debarawewa NS elected to bat first and were restricted to 99 runs with left arm spinner Mohamed Ismail capturng six wickets while Tharaka Pieris and Pandula Udupihilla capturing two wickets each. Sasindu Priyashan topped the score card with 34.
Debarawewa NS 99 in 37.1 overs ( Sasindu Priyashan 34, Sachithra Hemanayake 18; Mohamed Ismail 6 for 41 Tharaka Pieris 2 for 14, Pandula Udupihilla 2 for 21) and 99 for 2 wickets in 25 overs. ( Ishara Chathuranga 37, Ishan Indunil 30 not out; Geemantha Senanayake 1 for 18).
STC Matale 173 in 54.1 overs. ( Sajith de Silva 28, Pandula Udupihilla 35, Nimesh Jayamaha 35, Mohamed Ismail 17; Thimindu Sachinthana 2 for 36, Sahan Chamika 3 for 48, Sachithra Hemanayake 3 for 1).
