Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament Champions NCC pose with the trophy
By M. Shamil Amit
Kamil Mishara cracked 113 while Chamika Karunaratne bagged four scalps to help NCC outclass Ragama CC by 145 runs in the final of the Major Club Limited over cricket tournament played at the SSC ground yesterday.
Kamil’s knock which came off 132 balls comprised nine boundaries and he associated in two fruitful partnerships - first of 137 runs for the third wicket with Kaveen Bandara and the other of 92 runs for the fourth wicket with skipper Angelo Perera to enable NCC, after skipper Angelo winning and taking first lease of the wicket, to make a formidable score 286 for 7.
Ragama CC in reply was never going to win the run chase as right-arm pacies Karunaratne and Lahiru Kumara ran through the top-order batting to have them struggling on 76 for 5 in the 20th over.
Despite a knock of 42 coming from Janith Liyanage, the others failed to make any impression as Karunaratne and Lahiru came into action again to bowl them out for a low score of 141 runs to emerge the undisputed champions.
