Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has not yet recovered to play in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), T20 Cricket Tournament, according to Farveez Maharoof, Manager of the Kandy Tuskers Team.
The 38-year-old fast bowler sustained a hamstring injury during the opening match of the tournament against the Colombo Kings on November 26 and returned to the pavilion after delivering the last ball of his second over.
“He is not fit yet but our medical team is working hard to make him play and we are hopeful he will be available to play later in the tournament.”
The team Physiotherapist, Lasantha Ekanayake and Dr. Chaminda Gunathilake are monitoring his fitness on a day-to-day basis.
Meanwhile, the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota is Sri Lanka’s first venue to have four dressing rooms.
“The dressing rooms are excellent. There are separate routes for each dressing room and we are not required to wait till the first double header teams vacate their dressing rooms,” Maharoof added.
“These additional two dressing rooms were built for the purpose of the LPL,” Ashley de Silva, Sri Lanka Cricket, Chief Executive Officer, told the Daily Mirror yesterday.
