It is very sad that those who initiated and involved in defacing the murals failed to realise that Dr. Tiruchelvam was assassinated by the LTTE for tirelessly working towards a lasting peace within a united Sri Lanka. If I am correct the phrase secure the sanctity of life was made in a speech by Dr. Tiruchelvam in the Parliament at a motion to debate death penalty.

This is symbolic of a sick and perverted society that Sri Lanka is allowed to become, with no sense of remorse shown or action taken by the authorities concerned.
