The staff of the Embilipitiya Divisional Secretariat and the public who called over there to obtain permits for transport of consumer goods and to draw the Samurdhi allowance were perturbed when a development officer who had hosted a group of relatives from Chilaw reported for duty.
Police said the Development Officer’s husband who had an essential services permit to transport eggs from Chilaw had brought his brother , his wife and children on his way back. In response to the public complaint in this regard the health authorities had instructed the entire family to under go self –quarantine in the house.
However the Development Officer who reported for duty had gone into the Divisional Secretary’s room, and several other sections including the data processing branch, and Samurdhi branch.
Meanwhile the health authorities said the family of the Development Officer, and the visitors had only been instructed to undergo self quarantine but none of them have been identified to be infected by COVID-19.
