UNP WC meets today to discuss on leadership: Akila

The UNP Working Committee will meet today to discuss the new Leader and the office bearers, Party General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said yesterday. 

Mr. Kariyawasam told the Daily Mirror that the main topic of the discussion will be the party’s future. “We will talk about the new leader and the office bearers at the working committee meeting today,” he said.  Also, it is expected to discuss the national list slot as well.    UNP Deputy General Secretary Ruwan Wijewardene, former Minister Vajira Abeywardena and former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya are the main runners for the leadership post. While former Ministers Daya Gamage and Arjuna Ranatunga have also expressed their willingness to take over the leadership if it is offered to them.
