Ten isolated GN Divisions open in Polonnaruwa

Health authorities in Polonnaruwa yesterday opened ten out of 12 Grama Niladhari areas that had been locked down. Divisional Director of Health Services Dr. Sarath Jaysinghe said.


He said that only Abhayapura and Somapura Grama Niladhari areas remained under lock down.   
 Dr.Jayasinghe said that 1966 people  from 536 families lived in the two Grama Niladhari Divisions. He said 12 Grama Niladhari Divisions had been locked down after a CORONA infected individual was identified in the division.  


He further said that eight Naval ratings of the Pulashtigama Navy Camp who had visited the area on leave and 548 people in their families had been placed under self quarantine, after a CORONA positive Naval rating  residing in Pulasthigama was identified.   


The Medical Director said that none of the eight naval ratings were reported to have contracted the virus, but they would be p[laced under quarantine as a safety measure.
