Public Administration and Disaster Management Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara said politically-backed incidents took place on May 13 at a time when things were returning to normalcy following the attacks on April 21.
“Some individuals try to put it to UNP’s account. At present, the country is ruled by a UNP Government. However, the intention of the government is to ensure national peace and stability. The objective of those who resorted to violence is to destabilise the government. They wanted to show the government is incapable. The losses which the government would incur as a result of the event on May 13 cannot be calculated. The national economy will suffer from the violence. Almost all terrorists involved in the Easter Sunday attacks have been put behind bars,” he said.
