An individual alleged to have stabbed his wife to death, had been arrested by the Hemmathagama Police yesterday morning.

The victim named K. Sujani Sangeetha (41) was a mother of two children and a resident of Moligamuwa in Hemmathagama.

Police said a family dispute over the woman’s clandestine love affair with another man had led to the killing.   Police had earlier warned the husband and wife to live peacefully,  caring for their school going children,  a senior police official said.

However, the husband who noticed the woman seeing her lover is alleged to have stabbed her during an altercation.

Police said her body was referred to JMO Hemmathagama Hospital for a postmortem examination.
