Health authorities in Kataragama are perturbed by the entry into Kataragama area of people and groups from other areas.
Kataragama Administrative PHI Saman Dissanayake said more than 50 groups and several individuals who arrived to Kataragama from other areas, were subject to quarantine and several others were sent back. He said that among them was a Buddhist monk from the high risk area of Bandaragma and two young women from another area.
The PHI said it was in question as to how those individuals passed police and military check points at the district boundaries. He warned that the spread of COVID-19 in the Monaragala District would break out from Kataragama if the people visiting from other areas were allowed unchecked.
