Gunmen shoot at Chettikulam army checkpoint

One person sustained injuries in the army firing when three gunmen attempted to attack the Musalkutti Army checkpoint in Chettikulam. The injured gunman was admitted to the Vavuniya Hospital. Police said the soldiers from Chettikulam Brigade 213 had been carrying on a search operation on information regarding illicit felling of trees in the Wilpattu and Musalkutti forest reserves when the racketeers had shot at the army checkpoint.
