The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has issued a gazette notification removing the maximum retail price imposed for sugar.
Earlier, the CAA issued a gazette imposing maximum retail prices for non-packeted and packeted white sugar as Rs.100 and Rs.105 per kiogramme respectively.
However, CAA Chairman Maj. Gen. Shantha Dissanayaka issued a gazette on Monday rescinding that order.
