Train delays on mainline as Jaffna bound train derailed between Fort & Maradana

All trains including the office trains operating on the mainline were delayed after a Jaffna bound train derailed between the Maradana and Colombo Fort Railway Stations this morning, the Railway Control Room said.

They said an engine of a Jaffna train plying to Talaimannar had derailed this morning damaging the track. Railways Engineers are in duty to repair the track.

The compartments of the derailed train had been removed from the engine, and then attached to another and departed to Jaffna. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
