Vehicle movement towards Colombo from Kandy near the Kelaniya bridge will be temporarily restricted to one lane tomorrow in preparation for construction work to begin on Thursday, Director General of the Road Development Authority said.
Traffic will be restricted from 6 in the morning, and vehicular movement will be restricted with the help of the Sri Lanka Police department to identify short-comings with the road closure and ensure that the least possible discomfort is felt by people, he said.
Thereafter, one lane of the road would be closed for two days from December 19.
To minimise the vehicular traffic, light vehicles and buses only can use the Peliyagoda interchange of the Colombo- Katunayake expressway to reach Colombo. Containers and lorries will need to use the Colombo-Negombo route (A-03) to reach Colombo. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
