People in the North should not give their mandate to those who completely neglected the area even though they ruled the country for five years after the war, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said today.

Prime Minister who was speaking during the opening of the new accident ward in Vavuniya General Hospital said the people in the North should choose those who safeguarded their dignity and brought development to the area during the last four years.

“We have allocated Rs 20.5 billion for the development of Vavuniya alone. This amount does not include the amount that has been allocated to the nearest school is the best school programme. The previous regime completely neglected the North even though it ruled the country for five years since the completion of the war,” the Prime Minister said. (Yohan Perera)
