Parliamentary Select Committee probing the Easter Sunday bomb attacks had given dates to President Maithripala Sirisena to come and testify before the committee and he could decide on the date he wishes to come, Parliamentary Select Committee Member Sarath Fonseka said today.

Field Marshal Fonseka said the only person who is left for the select committee to summon is the President. “We have given President several dates to come and testify and he could decide on one of the dates,” Field Marshal Fonseka said.

He said the committee will have to seek an extension to the deadline in the event the President delays to respond. “We will not have the time to present the report on August 23 if the president delays to respond.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Committee Ananda Kumarasiri told the Daily Mirror that they will shortly inform Speaker Karu Jayasuriya that they need more time to carry out the remaining investigations and present the report to the House. (Yohan Perera)
