Two more Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MPs yesterday called for the appointment of former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to Parliament though the solitary national list slot which the UNP had received at this year’s general election.
The latest SJB MPs to make this request were Mujibur Rahaman and J. C. Alawathuwala who called for it at a press conference yesterday. meanwhile, SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha made similar request on Monday August 17, 2020.
“Mr. Wickremesinghe is a senior politician and has loads of experience in parliamentary affairs as he had been a senior parliamentarian for a long period. Therefore I believe that he is the most suitable person to come to Parliament though the national list,” Mr. Rahaman said.
“I also personally believe that Mr. Wickremesinghe should be the ideal person to come to Parliament through the national list. It is also sad to note that the House would meet today without a UNP MP,” Alawathuwala said.
MP Rahaman said the only alternative left for the UNP is to join SJB. We also call for the re-organisation of the UNP as well. “We have informed Mr. Wickremesinghe about the need to re-organise the party and to allow new leaders to take over, but those who were around him would not let him to do it. Mr. Wickremesinghe destroyed himself and the UNP at the end of the day by ignoring our request,” he said.
“There is no issue in UNP joining SJB, as we are also UNPers. In fact we are the real UNPers who are even endorsed by the people,” he added. (Yohan Perera)

Who is handling the UNP's finances after their downfall?. Apparently, it now looks like Ranil is trying to buy over SJB support. Bloody greedy man. Instead of trying to bring him back, get together and get rid of him permanently. He has been the architect of the UNP's demise.

No he should now go home. No need for him to go to parliament and utter nonsense and waste time. He has been an unproductive guy all these years.

Ranjith Thursday, 20 August 2020 11:34 AM
If Ranil continue as UNP leader it is good for SJB no future for UNP now and Ranil will float the ash on keleni river soon
Kathir Thursday, 20 August 2020 11:52 AM
Ranil is already outdated politician and very very old to handle UNP.Let him retire.

Purge Ranil and Ravi and then join with SJB. Best is for all other than Ranil and Ravi to join SJB.
