A man who was taken into custody for stealing a hand cart while begging near the Kochchikade church has been found to be a millionaire residing in Pamunuwa Maharagama, according to the coastal police.
Police has also found a WagonR and a luxury car in the garden of luxury upstairs house of this 64-year millionaire beggar in Pamunuwa.
He earns monthly income of Rs 30.000 as rent for the upper floor of this house and daily income of Rs.5,000 in begging.
Police has arrested this man on Sunday (23) observing CCTV camera video in their investigation after receiving a complaint about stealing a hand cart loaded with fruit worth Rs.20,000 from Jampatar street in Kochchikade Colombo.
In one video he has been detected pushing the stolen cart and later police has found him as the man who usually engaged in begging near the church.
He has engaged a man paying him Rs.5,000 to bring the cart to his house after he himself pushing it for some distance.
A police team led by Coastal police OIC Chief Inspector Jantha Kumara is investigating the incident. (Indika Ramanayaka)

If he has done his own job of begging, he may have led an excellent luxury life, he got more greedy and jumped to stealing as side business, led his down fall. If he had succeeded he may have qualified for the parliament.
