The price of the vehicles imported from Japan would be increased due to increase of the Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) value of Japan vehicles by 10 per cent, the Vehicle Importers Association of Sri Lanka (VIASL) said today.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror VIASL President Ranjan Peiris said the CIF value was increased due to the appreciation of Japanese Yen by 10 per cent. He said the selling rate of a Japanese Yen was increased to Rs.1.78 from 1.63.
As a result of yen appreciation, the CIF value, all the vehicles imported from Japan would be increased accordingly, he said.
The Japanese vehicles price will increase in the following manner according to the VIASL: Suzuki Wagon R- Rs.170,000, Toyota Passo-Rs.160,000, Toyota Vits-Rs.240,000, Toyota Axio-Rs.375,000, Toyota Premio-400,000, Toyota raize - Rs.400,000, Toyota CHR -Rs.Rs.470,000, Honda Vezel - Rs.400,000 and Honda Grace- Rs.350,000.
