Higher Educaton Ministry, UGC closed due to COVID-19 fear: Minister

The Higher Education Ministry and the University Grant Commission (UGC) are temporarily closed after having found several persons have been found infected with COVID-19 following PCR tests, Education Minister Prof. G.L. Pieris said.

While addressing in Parliament today, he said several COVID-19 positive cases were found through 50 PCR tests conducted at the UGC and Higher Education Ministry.

Therefore, the Ministry had decided to close those institutions temporarily, Prof. Pieris said.
