Four inmates of Mahara prison died of gunshot injuries

State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne informed court that the five-member committee appointed to look into the Mahara prison unrest had reported that four of the inmates died of gunshot injuries.

She also informed Wattala Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala that the committee had reported that even though they had died of gunshot injuries,there will be no hindrance to investigations as necessary samples have been taken from them.

Considering the submissions, the Magistrate ordered to cremate the bodies according to quarantine regulations.the Magistrate also ordered to inform the court the progress of investigations on the next day of hearing. (Buddimal Ruberu)
