Four persons who were being treated at the Punani Covid-19 treatment center were arrested and remanded for stealing electrical items and bathroom fittings of the treatment centre.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the medical officer of the treatment center
“The patients were scheduled to be released on the 12th of December. However, they have not been released by the chief medical officer of the treatment centre following the incident,” he said.
The suspects were identified as residents of Colombo 2 and Maskeliya.
They were remanded till December 18 after being produced before the Valaichchenai Magistrate.
