Army Commander Shavendra Silva today announced that a total of 210 officers and 7,000 from other ranks were granted promotion for the first time in the history of SLA in view of the 70th anniversary.
Accordingly, three second lieutenants were promoted to the rank of lieutenant, 17 lieutenants were promoted to the rank of captain, 15 captains to the rank of major and 40 majors to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
The 7,000 from other ranks were promoted to their upper rank. (DSB)

Promotions ..... promotions and more promotions, with the elections nearing with Mahesh as a contender, uneasy government want to have lot more chiefs and no Indians. Has any of these chiefs been a part of a real war ?
