An appointment that has been given against the decision taken by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa not to appoint persons charged with allegations of corruption has been canceled.

The Secretary to the Ministry in charge of a state media institute has ordered the institute's chairman to cancel the appointment of a concerned individual to a higher post of the said media institute.

The particular official had been appointed to that post on December 27 and the letter to dismissal had been issued to him on December 31.

In the letter sent to the Chairperson of the institute, the Secretary to the Ministry had also requested to inform the Secretary to the President and himself about the dismissal of the particular official. (Ariyarathna Ranabahu)

I who opposed the present president at the polls have begun to appreciate the bold steps he is taking presently. I know the prime minister and his henchmen must be very dissapointed with some of the non-appointment and cancellation of the appointments made, by the president. Well done sir, keep the good work and you would be held in high respect by the masses without any political bias. This Radaliyagoda has been a very corrupt and despicable person with a tarnished image and we all were dismayed when he was appointed in the first place. He should be in jail and not in a high seat of a leading State media institution.
