Acting IGP C.D. Wickremaratne today instructed all super markets and pharmacies except for state-owned pharmacies to close until further notice.
Police said the decision was taken as it was reported that some supermarkets were open for consumers despite being only permitted to operate home-delivery of essential commodities.
However, the police said pharmacies were allowed to operate home-delivery services.
All the OICs across the country had been advised to carry out the order.

All the delivery places are overwhelmed with orders . How can you expect us to get necessities. I cannot remember when I last ate bread. I live in Narahenpita. I have managed to get some bread tomorrow from Polhengoda. I need to go and collect it.

May saner counsel prevail. How can pharmacies do a delivery service? Is it practical? Is it viable?

does'nt the police realize that there are not many state own pharmacies in the country .Further home delivery of medicine is not a very practical solution as well. These are simply knee jerk reactions .

We all hear about essentials being home delivered. Who delivers and what? We do not know anything, this is only in TVs. Keels website is out of service. There are others claim to deliver essential as hamper packs but none have any essentials in the pack.Consumers end up receiving unwanted groceries too. We reside in Mattakuliya and being senior citizens helpless and desperate. No one services this area.

You see we have a stomach and it needs food .We see that the people who are ordering don't have a stomach .what a stupid way of controlling donkeys in control don't you understand you need national plan where you need to supply dry ration to every house hold free of charge so they don't venture out for any reason what so ever.
