200 protests will be held during the coming days: Opposition Leader

Leader of Opposition and SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa today said his party will hold 200 protests against the sugar scam and the environmental destruction during the coming days.
Speaking during the rally held to mark the first anniversary of SJB in Hyde Park, Mr. Premadasa said his party will hold protests in each electoral constituency. "Get ready to take to the streets in the coming days when we take the battle to the streets against the Rs. 15.9 billion sugar scam and the large scale destruction of the environment," Mr. Premadasa said.
"Also get ready to hold the Government responsible and call for answers from the rulers on the large scale scams," he added.
"We will not make past mistakes and put forward a common candidate for the next Presidential election. We will only field a candidate who could bring victory to the common masses. We will therefore produce an SJB President and form an SJB government in 2025," he also said.
MP Patali Champika Ranawaka said what is needed today is a common opposition force which gives men of ability to lead the nation.
SJB MP Harin Fernando said all parties should come together to defeat the present government. "The present govenment was brought to power to save the nation. However today's need is to save the nation from the present rulers. Join us to fulfill the common task of defeating this government. It does not matter whether you are JVPer or a UNPer," he said.(Yohan Perera)
