UNP member of the Weligama Urban Council had lodged a complaint with the Weligama police over a threat he had received from a fellow member of the council following a Facebook comment he had posted.
UNP member of the Urban Council Taranga Jayawardena told Daily Mirror that he was threatened by this member over a Facebook post. “He stormed into my residence and threatened me with death. My family, particularly my children who were with me have got frightened over the incident. My two daughters have hardly spoken a word after the incident. This member of the Urban Council who represent the ruling party should have commented about my post without threatening me,” he said.
“I lodged a complaint with the police for entering into my residence forcefully and threatening me with death,” he added.
