Two individuals who stole a cash collection of Rs.2.9 million from a financial institute in Akuressa were arrested yesterday while they were fleeing.
Police said they recovered a locally-made firearm from their possession. They said the cash collection had been robbed when it was being prepared at the financial institute to be deposited in a private bank. The fleeing suspects were arrested following information received by a police team stationed in Akuressa. The suspects aged 32 and 35 were identified as residents of Hakmana and Dikwella.
