Three people travelling in a trishaw were killed and one injured yesterday in a head-on collision with a lorry at Anapallama on the Monaragala-Wellawaya road.
The deceased identified as Urawatta Wetiarambage Priyantha Lal de Silva (37), Urawatta Wetiarambage Malani de Silva (72) and Pihillatenne Gedera Ruwan Priyadarshana (41) were residents of Anapallama in Wellawaya.
The injured trishaw identified as Chamara Prasanna (31) was admitted to the Monaragala General Hospital and according to hospital sources is in a stable condition. The police arrested the driver of the lorry which was used to transport bricks.
He was produced in the Wellawaya Magistrate’s Court yesterday while investigations were being conducted by the Wellawaya Police Traffic Division under the directions of Monaragala Division OIC SSP Samantha Wijesekera.
