Anticipatory Bail applications filed by three former directors of Edirisinghe Trust Investment (ETI) and Swarnamahal were yesterday fixed for inquiry on January 27 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Mohommed Mihal.
However, the Magistrate rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by Deepa Edirisinghe, another director of the ETI finance due to a printing error.
Accordingly, the Magistrate issued notices to the OIC of the Criminal Investigation Department who was named as the respondent of the anticipatory bail applications to appear before the Court on the next date. The four suspects had earlier told court that the Criminal Investigations Department is preparing to arrest them in connection with the alleged Rs.3 billion financial fraud that took place in their company.
The anticipatory bail applications were submitted by Nalaka Premal Edirisinghe, Jeewaka Hemal Edirisinghe, Anjalee Deepa Edirisinghe and Asanka Srimal Edirisinghe who were arrested on money laundering charges and other offences.
