Chairman of Talawakelle-Lindula Pradeshiya Sabha Asoka Sepala resigned from his post yesterday. He said he resigned and handed over the resignation letter to the Pradeshiya Sabha authorities.

The Central Province Governor had appointed a commission to inquire into several allegations against the PS Chairman and suspended him from the post. The outgoing chairman said he handed over a copy of the resignation to the Nuwara Eliya Asst. Commissioner of Elections.

He said he came to power in the Pradeshiya Sabha as an independent candidate and that the undue interference of SLPP leaders in the Nuwara Eliya District compelled him to resign. He said he would join hands with leader of Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Sajith Premadasa and contest the next Provincial Council election.
