A photo-journalist attached to the Ceylon Today newspaper filed a police complaint against former Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) OIC IP Neomal Rangajeewa for threatening and obstructing his duties at the premises of the Colombo High Court.
The incident occurred during the media coverage of the case involving former MP Tiran Alles at Colombo High Court yesterday.
The photo-journalist in his complaint said when he was about to take a photograph of Mr. Rangajeewa he had suddenly pounced on the photo-journalist and dragged him to the police post at the court premises. The video footage showed IP Rangajeewa dragging away the photo-journalist. IP Rangajeewa is the first suspect in the 2012 Welikada Prison riots case and he had come to court to mark his presence in the case.
