One passenger was killed and 42 injured when two buses collided head-on in the Muwan Pelessa area in Minneriya on Wednesday night, police said.
They said a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus travelling towards Kalmunai from Colombo had collided with a Colombo-bound private bus around 11.30 pm.
The two bus drivers were among the injured and admitted to the Polonnaruwa hospital. The SLTB driver succumbed to his injuries on admission to the hospital.
