Monks to UNP seniors Appoint Karu as party leader

Several monks who had been associated with the UNP for some time have requested the party seniors to appoint former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya as the new leader, sources from Sirikotha said yesterday. 

According to these sources, the party seniors have told the monks about a video clip in which they have claimed that Mr. Jayasuriya had promoted a Samagi Jana Balawegaya candidate. This had been circulated in the social media during election time.   

The seniors have told the monks that an investigation has to be carried out to determine the authenticity of the video clip. They have told the monks that a decision pertaining to party leadership will be made after the investigation is concluded.
