The isolation status in Pettah, Foreshore and Mattakkuliya police areas in Colombo and Negombo and Ragama police areas in Gampaha was lifted at 5 am today, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said.
He said isolation status will continue in the Modera, Bloemendhal, Kotahena, Grandpass, Dam Street, Wolfendhal Street, Maligawatte, Dematagoda, Keselwatta police areas and Wekanda and Wanathamulla Grama Niladhari Divisions.
The Army Commander said Randiya Uyana Housing Scheme South of Ferguson Road in Mattakkuliya police area and Laksanda Sevana Housing Scheme, Salamulla Grama Niladhari Division and Wijayapura Grama Niladhari Division in the Wellampitiya police area were declared as new isolated areas from 5 am today.
He said the isolation status will continue in Kelaniya, Wattala and Peliyagoda police areas in the Gampaha District. Meanwhile, two Grama Niladhari Divisions, Aluthgama North and Unawaruwa of the Matale district were isolated yesterday.
In addition, 496 persons tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.
The Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda clusters have now increased to 19,946.
The total number of Covid-19 infections confirmed in the country as of yesterday stands at 23,484.
Recoveries from the virus climbed to 17,002 with 346 patients discharged yesterday from hospitals.
Meanwhile the total number of COVID-19 infected persons in Prisons exceeded 1,000 yesterday.
