Int’l School teacher throws ‘drug’ party for son

• The 41-year-old teacher, another female and 12 youth aged between 18 and 26 were arrested

A female teacher of an international school who organised a party for her son’s birthday, was arrested with drugs along with another 11 youth at a two-storeyed house in Pamankada, Wellawatte, Police said.   

They said the raid was conducted by the Wellawatte Police following a tip off that a group of youths attending a party at the house was taking drugs.   

Police said that two sons of the suspect teacher were also taken into custody.  Police recovered 10 grams of the  drug called ‘Ice’ in local jargon and over 2,000 milligrams of cannabis from their possession during the raid.   
The 41-year-old teacher, another female and 12 youths aged between 18 and 26 were arrested.   
Police said the suspects were released on bail after being produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.   
The case would be taken again in Court on May 13.
