The Colombo High Court yesterday served indictments against Swiss Embassy official Garnier Banister Francis on charges of making a fabricated statement to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) about an abduction by unidentified men.
Defendant Garnier Banister appeared in Court when the case was called yesterday and the indictments filed by Attorney General (AG) was then handed over to the accused. Accordingly, the Colombo High Court ordered that the accused be released on bail and the case was fixed to be heard on June 4. Earlier, the accused said that on November 25, 2019, five unidentified persons abducted her in the Cinnamon Gardens area in Colombo, threatened her with a firearm, detained her for several hours and questioned about CID Inspector Nishantha Silva who fled the country.
