The Convener of the Inter University Students’ Federation, Maheel Dehideniya, who was arrested by the police during the protest carried out by the IUSF students near the parliament roundabout on Wednesday (13) was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court yesterday and remanded till May 18.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Ms. Lanka Jayaratna remanded the IUSF convener allegedly for unruly behaviour at Parliament Road Battaramulla during the protest staged by University students.
The police told the Magistrate that eight police constables who had sustained injuries are presently being treated at the Government Hospital.
