The Colombo High Court on Thursday acquitted former Chairman of Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha, Gampaha District SLPP MP Milan Ranjith Jayathilake and one other official, following the withdrawal of the case by the Bribery Commission (BC) for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 600,000 to issue a quarrying license.

When the case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Adithya Patabendige, Deputy Director-General of BC Ganga Heiyanthuduwa appeared before the Court and informed that the charge sheet against the accused would be withdrawn subject to re-filing due to a technical error in the case.

Accordingly, former Chairman of the Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha and a member of the Pradeshiya Sabha K.D. Ajith Sisira Kumara were acquitted from the High Court case.
