The Colombo District Court yesterday issued an enjoining order on certain television channels preventing the broadcast of the comment made by Wimal Weerawansa on former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen’s brother was engaged in telephone conversations with National Thowheed Jamaat (NTJ) Leader Zahran Hashim.
The order was issued by Colombo District Court Judge Aruna Aluthge during the hearing of the petition filed by former Minister
Rishad Bathiudeen.
In the petition, former Minister mentioned that even at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) probing Easter Sunday attacks there was no evidence led against his brother having telephone conversation with suicide bomber Zahran Hashim. Earlier, Bathiudeen filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against Minister Wimal Weerawansa seeking an inquiry into a statement made by the Minister and necessary legal action.
Counsel Rushdhie Habeeb with Counsel Sandeepa Gamaethige appeared on behalf of former Minister Bathiudeen.
