Nine public enterprises including Sri Lanka Cricket and the Batticaloa Campus & Hira Foundation have been summoned before the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) of Parliament next week to investigate their performances and progress, COPE Chairman Sunil Handunnetti said.
Officials of Sri Lanka Cricket will appear before the COPE on September 3 while officials of the Batticaloa Campus & Hira Foundation will appear on September 17.
Board members and the high ranking officials of the National Savings Bank and the Peoples Bank will appear before the COPE on September 4 and 5 respectively.
Mr. Handunnetti said officials of the Atomic Energy Authority have been summoned before the committee on September 18 while officials of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau will be summoned on September 19.
The Parliament has recently authorized media coverage of the COPE proceedings, thereby enabling the public to have close scrutiny on
public enterprises.
