The All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) led by Minister Rishad Bathiudeen hailed the decision made by Sri Lanka’s leading Tamil coalition to back New Democratic Front (NDF) candidate Sajith Premadasa at the forthcoming presidential election.
“I praise the decision taken by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) to support NDF candidate Sajith Premadasa at the forthcoming presidential election. Its unconditional support is good news and makes us happy,” Minister Bathiudeen said addressing the Salambakulam meeting. “Sri Lankan minorities were united during the 2015 presidential election too. Tamils and Muslims supported common candidate Maithripala Sirisena and got him elected as President. Similarly, the minorities are uniting this time to elect Sajith Premadasa who will certainly win the election.”
He said racists within the opposition presidential candidate’s camp would be quietened when Sajith assumed presidency.
“They harassed our Muslim brethren after the dastardly Easter Sunday attacks to fan flames of communalism within the majority community so that their votes would increase thereby returning them to power,” he said.
